Meatballs In Onion Sauce

Ingredients

- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 medium egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 cups onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup butter
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup milk
Recipe
- 1 soak bread crumbs in milk.
- 2 mix all remaiing meatball ingredients except butter.
- 3 form into walnut sized meatballs.
- 4 brown them well in the butter.
- 5 cover and simmer 1 hour.
- 6 sauce:
- 7 saute onions in butter until carmelized.
- 8 blend in flour and salt.
- 9 slowly add milk and beef broth.
- 10 stir until it thickens somewhat.
- 11 pour over meatballs and serve.
