Meatballs In Onion Sauce

Total Time: 1 hr 35 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 cups onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup butter
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup milk

Recipe

  • 1 soak bread crumbs in milk.
  • 2 mix all remaiing meatball ingredients except butter.
  • 3 form into walnut sized meatballs.
  • 4 brown them well in the butter.
  • 5 cover and simmer 1 hour.
  • 6 sauce:
  • 7 saute onions in butter until carmelized.
  • 8 blend in flour and salt.
  • 9 slowly add milk and beef broth.
  • 10 stir until it thickens somewhat.
  • 11 pour over meatballs and serve.
