Meaty Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

- 1 lb bulk italian sausage
- 1 large onion, diced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 2/3 ounce italian salad dressing mix (1 packet)
- 1 tablespoon oregano (to taste)
- 3 tablespoons basil (to taste)
Recipe
- 1 in the bottom of a large dutch oven, brown the italian sausage with the onions, cooking until the meat is browned and the onion translucent.
- 2 drain the fat and return meat and onions to the pan.
- 3 add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomatoe paste to pot.
- 4 stir in italian dressing mix.
- 5 add oregano and basil, allowing sauce to cook for at least 10 minutes between additions.
- 6 taste the sauce before adding anything. the flavors intensify while the sauce simmers.
- 7 cover and simmer over medium low heat, stirring occasionally.
- 8 serve over pasta or use in lasagna.
