Norwegian Meatballs

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1/4 lb ground lamb
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice

Recipe

  • 1 saute onion in butter in a skillet until clear, but not brown. add remaining ingredients. make small meatballs. brown in 2 tbs. butter. remove from skillet and put in casserole dish.
  • 2 put in skillet:2 tbs. butter, 1 cup milk, ¼ teaspoons pepper, ½ teaspoons salt, and 1 teaspoons sugar.
  • 3 dissolve cornstarch (3 tbs.) in a little water. add to liquid. when thickened, pour over meatballs. bake about 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
