Layered Potato Bake (rakott Burgonya)

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 kg medium potato (desiree's)
  • 6 eggs
  • 100 g streaky bacon, unsliced
  • 100 g ham, off bone or 100 g smoked lamb sausage
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons dried breadcrumbs
  • salt
  • grated cheese

Recipe

  • 1 boil potatoes in salted water until cooked ( iprefer to peel them first but you can peel them after boiling).
  • 2 hard boil 5 eggs.
  • 3 dice bacon finely and fry.
  • 4 drain off fat.
  • 5 cut ham into 5mm squares or sausage slice into coins.
  • 6 spoon sour cream into a jar and break in 1 egg and beat lightly with fork.
  • 7 coat bottom of casserole dish with butter and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
  • 8 slice potatoes into 5mm thick rounds shell eggs and slice with egg slicer.
  • 9 preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius.
  • 10 place one layer of potatoes on bottom of pan sprinkle with salt.
  • 11 follow with layer of eggs then layer of ham and bacon or sliced sausage.
  • 12 spoon over third of sour cream mixture.
  • 13 repeat until all used.
  • 14 leaving enough potatoes for top layer.
  • 15 sprinkle grated cheese on top and bake for 30 minute.
