Hot Dog Bake

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 4 reduced-sodium hot dogs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 cups mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
  • 1 tablespoon coarse grain mustard
  • 1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon margarine or 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • pepper

Recipe

  • 1 heat a skillet, spray with oil, use medium heat and cook the onion with the brown sugar, stirring for about 5 minutes.
  • 2 add hot dogs and cook until they are brown (5 min).
  • 3 remove from heat.
  • 4 mix the mashed potatoes and the hot dog mix.
  • 5 stir in the sauerkraut & mustard, add pepper.
  • 6 spoon into a 1 quart casserole, sprinkle with bread crumbs, drizzle with the margarine/butter.
  • 7 bake in 350°f oven until the casserole is heated through and golden, about 15-20 minutes.
