Kotlecky (ukrainian Meatballs)

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground lamb
  • 1/2 medium onion, minced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 3 slices stale bread, soaked in
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Recipe

  • 1 squeeze the milk out of the bread and discard.
  • 2 mix together with the meats, onion, garlic, eggs, salt and pepper and sour cream.
  • 3 mix well, then shape into 8 large balls.
  • 4 brown the balls in hot oil, then place in a oven proof casserole dish.
  • 5 bake covered, for 30 minutes at 325*f.
  • 6 remove cover and bake 15 minutes longer.
