Meatloaf Asian-style

Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground lamb
- 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
- 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 3 cups cooked long-grain rice, divided
- wasabi, for serving
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350°.
- 2 in a big bowl, combine all the ingredients except 2 cups of rice, the glaze, and the
- 3 wasabi; mix well.
- 4 turn the mixture into a lightly oiled 9 x 5 inch loaf pan; gently pat down.
- 5 bake for 45 minutes; meanwhile make the glaze—in a small bowl, whisk the glaze ingredients together.
- 6 spread the glaze on top of the loaf and bake 15 more minutes, until the loaf is firm and the top is lightly browned and the sauce is bubbly.
- 7 let stand in the pan for 5-10 minutes before serving.
- 8 remove the loaf from the pan and slice to serve.
- 9 serve with the remaining rice and wasabi.
