Greek Lamb With Orzo

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 1 kg lamb shoulder, diced
- 2 onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cinnamon sticks, broken in half
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 400 g chopped tomatoes
- 500 ml hot chicken or 500 ml vegetable stock
- 400 g orzo pasta
- freshly grated parmesan cheese, to serve
Recipe
- 1 brown the lamb in a non-stick frying pan then transfer to a slow cooker.
- 2 heat the oil in the same pan and gently fry the onions until soft, add the oregano and cinnamon, stir then add to the slow cooker on a low temperature.
- 3 add the cinnamon sticks, tomatoes and the stock to the slow cooker.
- 4 cook for approximately 7 hours until the meat is tender.
- 5 turn the heat to high, remove the cinnamon sticks and add the orzo.
- 6 cook for approx 25 minutes until the orzo is cooked.
- 7 sprinkle with parmesan and serve with crusty bread.
