Nathalie Dupree's Meat Loaf

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 1/4 lbs ground lamb
- 2 slices bread, made into crumbs
- 1/3 cup oatmeal
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
- freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 tablespoons prepared mustard
- 4 tablespoons vinegar
Recipe
- 1 preheat the oven to 400 degrees. for the loaf, mix all the ingredients together, shape, and place in a greased roasting pan. bake for 1 hour, basting occasionally with the pan juices (i leave this part out).
- 2 to make the suace, mix all the ingredients together in a small saucepan. heat briefly and pour over individual slices of the meat loaf.
