Nathalie Dupree's Meat Loaf

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 1/4 lbs ground lamb
  • 2 slices bread, made into crumbs
  • 1/3 cup oatmeal
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 4 tablespoons vinegar

Recipe

  • 1 preheat the oven to 400 degrees. for the loaf, mix all the ingredients together, shape, and place in a greased roasting pan. bake for 1 hour, basting occasionally with the pan juices (i leave this part out).
  • 2 to make the suace, mix all the ingredients together in a small saucepan. heat briefly and pour over individual slices of the meat loaf.
